In the restaurant industry, safety is a primary concern as it affects both customers and employees similarly. Restaurant safety is not limited to just food protection; uncontrollable fires are an even more frightening and dangerous problem to consider.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration, thousands of restaurant fires occur throughout the country each year. These fires often cause extensive damage to the facility and its equipment, costing restaurant owners significant sums. Additionally, uncontrollable fires can lead to personal injuries of anyone inside a restaurant.
At Fox Valley Fire & Safety, we strive to educate others on the importance of effective restaurant fire protection; to achieve that goal, our technicians offer educational seminars on a regular basis. Recently, we hosted a training seminar with Tyco Fire Protection Products on July 8, 2015.
Tyco Fire Protection Products manufactures ANSUL, the widely trusted premium brand of fire suppression products. ANSUL products are UL 300 compliant, which ensures the highest safety standards for restaurant environments. These products are commonly utilized to defend restaurants from fires and related hazards, but prior to implementation, companies need proper education. Fox Valley Fire & Safety is a proud triple diamond ANSUL distributor.
The recent training seminar provided attendees with a better understanding of effective evaluation and inspection of fire suppression systems.
Bill Klingenmaier, a technical services manager for Tyco and noted member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), led the seminar. Some of the topics Mr. Klingenmaier discussed included:
- The evolution of restaurant fire suppression technology
- Building fire codes and NFPA standards
- Best practices for evaluating protection products
- Plan review, certification and acceptance for system design and installation
- And more!
This unique training seminar was free to attend. Attendees included fire marshals and chiefs, engineers, architects, food service consultants, and other industry professionals.
